Center for Maternal Health Advancement

Our Mission, Vision & Values

Mission

To advance equitable maternal health outcomes for mothers confronting barriers to care.

Vision

A world where every mother, regardless of race, income, or circumstance, experiences safe, equitable, and dignified maternal care.

Our Values

Equity Every mother deserves high-quality care and respect, no matter her background.
Evidence-Based Advocacy We utilize culturally grounded research and center lived experience to inform programs and policies.
Collaboration We partner with communities, clinicians, and policymakers to create lasting change.
Lifespan Focus Maternal health outcomes are shaped long before pregnancy and long after childbirth — we prioritize care across the entire female lifespan.

"Through research, programs, and advocacy, we strive to ensure that every mother receives the care, respect, and dignity she deserves."

The Center for Maternal Health Advancement builds on the legacy of the Center for Black Maternal Health & Reproductive Justice while embracing a broader vision.

Maternal health is shaped by a woman's experiences across her lifespan, from adolescence through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Structural inequities in access to care, chronic disease management, reproductive autonomy, and social support can profoundly affect outcomes.

Our mission is to advance maternal health equity by centering Black maternal health and extending support to mothers facing barriers related to systemic inequities, race, income, or limited access to quality care.
